Difference between WoW and GW
Hi,
I have played WoW now for almost one year and getting kinda bored with it, they got lots of problems now and so on. So i wonder what r the main differences between WoW and BW ? How does the gear work ? U got like epic gear like WoW ? Can u make potions, make your own armor ? How do u travel, mount same as in WoW ? Have tried to read about the lvl system but i dont understand how it works, do u gain XP for killing mobs ? |

WoW=Grind
GW=No Grind No but seriously. No you can't make potions. You travel by bringing up your map and clicking the town you want after you've visited it. You gain experience from killing things within a certain level of yourself. Leveling isn't a problem play through the game and you'll end up level 20 easily. You can make your own armor but there is only a few types and then there is different looks. GW Is NOT an mmorpg.

Oh lordy not this again.
WoW and GW are like night and day. Gear has no requirements or prerequisites. Assuming you mean armor. A level 1 can wear end-game armor, and a level 20 can wear starter armor. You have to craft the armor you plan to use, so I guess you do 'make' your own. You can't make health potions. You need to rely on Monks to keep you alive. Levels are awarded by either killing mobs, doing quests, or completing missions. Traveling is done via the map, and there are currently no in-game mounts. Thank you and have a nice day. |

every area outside of towns it instanced - it's for you and your party only
loot is dropped as protected for ONE specific party member and gets free for all in about 5 minutes laying on the floor gold is divided evenly between all party members (does not matter who picks it up) a more limited skill set (you have to choose 8 from all you have) to use in missions (more fun IMO) "capturing" skills from dead bosses _________________ my 2 cents |

So if i get to lvl 20 and i can use whatever gear, what u do in the game then ? U guys just do same instances over
and over again or what ? In WoW gear is a big deal, that is what make ppl play the game after lvl 60, what is the candy here after lvl 20 ? |

arucard - Can you play with the attributes in WoW or they are fixed once you increase.
Meaning if you have a Warrior/Gladiator and you want to put 5 points in to Strength can you later take the points from Strength and use them somewhere else? Can you Map teleport with WoW? |

In WoW i got HS(Healthstone) that u can place in the Inn(u only got one). And u can take bird to different cities and
boat to other contry. In WoW u got talents to change your char, and u can unlearn those to so u get 31 points to redesign, it cost money tho =( first time 1g, 5g, 10g and so on ... and gold r very very hard to get in WoW always a problem. How i see GW is alil like Fable on XBOX ? One more thing, there is no month fee to play this game ? In wow u pay 120SEK per month Last edited by arucard; Nov 01, 2005 at 01:32 PM // 13:32.. |

The game doesn't end when you hit 20 it begins. For PvE there is more missions and if you like you can try to get fissure armor. It has a unique look but has the same stats as regular armor.
I personally can't stand PvE in any game and so it's all about PvP. GW PvP isn't based on who has the better gear because you can always make a PvP char which gives you flawless gear (assuming you have unlocked it). Unlocking gear for PvP is fairly easy.

After playing GW for over 1000 hours, I can say that WoW is a magnificent game.
A few things might bug you, such as : Taking damage sets your cast time back 1 second To find something for a quest, you actually need to find it. There aren't any arrows like in GW, you must look for the specific item/boss/quest giver by yourself, which for a new person (like me) can take a shitload of time. You learn spells quite slowly, for a priest at least; and quite a lot of them are just stronger variants of each other. Having to run everywhere. Although those are minors things, once you go further in the game (I'm only level 12), quite a few of those things will be fixed. |

I dont have Xbox so no idea about that game.
If you search you find loads of info about the game here. I never Played WoW, so i cant really say how much they are like. i would say read the forums and visit this page and have a look at Guild Wars Gameplay Footage. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/guild...q=guild%20wars Just to give you an idea this game is not about level up, this game is about using your head. You can only carry 8 skills While you are in the game area, but u can change them in town. So its More about Skills less about lv up. You cant Buy weapons from NPC you have to find them yourself (ok can only buy called started wepons). There are no mana or life potions, you have heal your self with skills ( or wait for the monk to heal you) and the best thing is you pay for the game only no extra fees, only Chapters (next one comming about around Fev 2006) You can have fun with PvE but PvP is the daddy of the game. I am sure people will let you know of more features. Another thing this game is not so hard to play as long you learn how to use the skills and Because you can change the attributes anytime with out penalty (only in town) you can play around with your build. Good Luck |

The game sounds good, and looks damn nice to. The big problem i have with WoW is it takes soo damn long time and i get about 2-3 hours sleep every day. So after a year im getting kinda tired =).
In WoW u must be alert and follow your teams to get items and so on. We r doing Molten Core now its a 40 ppl instance, every player need to be very skilled to manage that one. And it takes about 5-7 hours to get to the first boss. And if u cant play u dont get any points and in the end u gont get anything from month and month of training. I need to settle down a bit =) dunno how long instances take in this game but im pretty sure they dont take like 5-7 hours. Longest ive been in took us 9 hours to get to second boss .... Think im gonna order this one =) |

if by instance, you mean mission (there are plot-based quests), then they usually take aproximately 20-30 minutes.
there are many side-quests, which range from minutes to a few hours (titan source - a new mission added a month or so ago). |

Ok no way near that amount of time i normaly can do the hard missions in 30 minutes max and thats with people that dont know the game.
Some quests will take much longer but no way near 5-7 hours. at least never happen to me. When u start in the real world u can team up with up to 4 people in a team. And the further you go the more you get 6 and finally 8 playes in a team. Once you step outside you dont find any other players apart from your own team. This its great coz you avoid loots Stealers, like other games. As well the drops are ID so only that Character can pick up that item. if they want to give it you they can trade or pick it up and then drop were then anyone can have it. If for any reason you cant find a Real Player to join you, you can take a NPC to play the missions quests with you. Etc... |

There's nothing so long in the PvE part of GW. Some quests in the end of the game can take up to 2 hours (in my experience).
You can play PvP if you don't have so much time. Takes minutes, tens of minutes tops (depending on the area you play in). GW is good even as a singleplayer (with just the AI henchmen) game |

there is no monthly fees like WoW. If you like PvP, then Guild Wars is your candy coz the real thing starts after level 20. You can farm in the game to get items. If you say epic items, there are green items around in the game that is considered rare to get. Guild Wars are more of sort of the game that suits casual gamers. After level 20, it is all about PvP. One of the features of the PvP part is that you will fight in tombs of primeval kings then proceeds to hall of heroes (consider if you win all PvP matches that you encountered in tombs). Then in Halls of Heroes, you will fight players from other places to gain favour from God for your country (America, Europe or Korea) to open up a new area, which is called Fissure of Woe in order to advance your PvE quests/story/missions. Inside the Fissure of Woe, you can forge fissure armor, which is very expensive (just for the kick-ass looks). |

Anyway i think i gonna give this game a try, i liked fable alot so maby i like this game alot to =) |
